Ziff Davis's Computer Gaming World Magazine includes a PC demo disc with each montly issue. As a leading PC game magazine, CGW has no problem collecting content, but did need help getting it in a useable format that was easy to update with only 1-2 weeks of turn around time.
CGW needed a sophisticated look for it's experienced gaming audience. By custom programming the disk rather than using a pre-existing authoring software, LifeLike was able to create a "cutout" window to display content, giving the piece a gadget-like look. The interface template is easy to update and gets a new skin every month, keeping the look fresh, without having to redesign the interface each month.
The CGW disc includes links from the disk to websites which are used to track customer behavior and preferences. This information is passed on to publisher and used to improve the content of the disc and magazine. The disc also provides additional advertising and sponsorship opportunities through a banner link that can rotate or be swapped out each month.
